When the outside temperature is 90 degrees or higher, our animals have access to their indoor holding areas (if they choose) and may or may not be able to be viewed by our visitors.
If weather is below 50 degrees, the meerkats, tamanduas and otters may not be out. Below 40 degrees, many of the animals have access to their indoor holding areas and may or may not be viewed by our visitors.

Bone-Crusher debuts Dec. 21, 2011 Come check out our newest and oldest aquatics animal now at the Center, Bone-Crusher. This 92 year old Alligator Snapping Turtle was acquired recently from the David Traylor Zoo in KS. Bone-Crusher's new home will be in the former nurse shark tank in our downstairs aquarium. * Keeper Talks are subject to cancellations or modifications during inclement weather, issues with animal health/safety, or in the case of an emergency that requires the attention of the keeper staff. Note, during the winter months, it may be too cold for some animals to be outside.
Reptile keeper talks will vary depending on weather conditions. They may be done on the tortoises, crocodiles or indoor reptiles. Tortoises and crocodiles will be off-exhibit during the winter months.
Keeper Talks at the Natural Science Center of Greensboro are formal and informal presentations for visitors given by the animal keeper staff with one or more animals. These presentations may or may not include food or enrichment. Keeper Talks at the Friendly Farm petting zoo do allow kids to feed the animals.
